(The following information, along with the wording of all three oaths, was kindly provided by Deb Wilbur.)

a] My John WOOD (4th G-Grandfather) provided an Oath of Allegiance, as you describe in the link to your website, on June 29, 1801 before Robert Baldwin. I could not find an actual copy of that document, however, I have attached a file which notes the source of the three oaths which were required to be taken in Upper Canada between 1800 - 1806. Presumably, my John WOOD along with his friends and neighbours on that list, participated in all three versions.

b] Also included in the attached file is a copy of the wording of the one of which I do have a copy. This modified version was sworn by my John WOOD on September 5, 1812 before Captain John Burn at the York Garrison. Unfortunately, John died on April 7, 1813 at the York Garrison. His original petition for land in Hope Township, began in 1799 and this 1812 Oath was part of his campaign for a land grant. It would suggest that he was requesting a reward of land strictly based on his military status and not as a UEL.

c] Original spelling of course has been retained!

The following is the Oath of Allegiance, as signed by John Wood, on the fifth day of September 1812.

I, John Wood do sincerely promise and swear that I will be faithfull and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King George and his, will defend to the utmost of my power against all persons and traitorous conspiracies whatsoever which shall may be made against his Person, Crown or Dignity. So help me God.
John Wood

Sworn before me at York
This Fifth Day of September 1812
W. Allen, J.P.

I do certify that I have been acquainted with the above named John Wood about ten years and do believe him to be an honest industrious man.
