Over the years, local play productions have been much-anticipated social events, providing opportunities for the community to come together as actors, stage crews, and audiences. Here are four that were performed in 1929-1930.


maple leaf In May 1915, The Col. Arthur Williams Chapter of the I.O.D.E. presented Fi-Fi of the Toy Shop, a play at Port Hope's Royal Theatre, the money raised to be used to furnish a semi-private ward in the new hospital for the returned men and their families. The room was to be dedicated to the memory of the Port Hope boys "who gave their lives for us".
