William Henry Horner (c1794) of Ireland

William Henry Horner, born c1794 in Ireland, married Sarah Gaddis born in 1825 in Ireland (exact location unknown). They came to Canada before 1856, the year their son Thomas was born in Ontario. They took up farming on three acres of land on the eighth concession of Hope Township. William died on May 30, 1871 at age 78 from "dropsy". He is buried in Perrytown Presbyterian Cemetery. Sarah died April 23, 1905 at 78 years from "old age". She is also buried in Perrytown Cemetery.

William and Sarah had five children. James born c1847; Mary Ann born c1849; Joseph born c1853; all born in Ireland. Thomas born c1856; and John c1858; both born in Ontario, Canada.

Joseph Horner married Wilhemina Lowe, born in 1862 in Port Hope, on January 3, 1883 in Millbrook. They lived on a farm near Elizabethville. Josephh died on Feb. 11, 1923, and Wilhemina on Jan. 14, 1950. Both are buried in Oak Hills Cemetery (north of Elizabethville).

Joseph and Wilhemina had eight children. Mabel born Oct.31, 1883; Robert George born Aug.20,1885; William Joseph born Feb.6, 1887; Walter born June 6, 1891; Martha Rhoda born Jan. 29,1895; Wilhemina born June 07, 1899 (died Sept. 29, 1899); Edith May born Sept. 17, 1900 (died Sept. 29, 1900; and James Wilbert born Sept. 10, 1902.

William Joseph Horner married Emmaline Cann on Oct. 1911 in Port Hope. They purchased a farm on the seventh concession of Hope Township, where they raised their seven children. Harold George, Hazel Mina, Russell William, Gladys Mary, Orville Thomas, Donald James and Allan.

William was killed in a car accident in 1959 and Emmaline died in 1966. Both are buried in Port Hope Union Cemetery.

Donald Horner married Shirley West in Scarboro in 1948 and their five children were born there. Susan Shirley, James Donald, Gary William Harold, David Joseph, and Donna Beverly. In 1967 they returned to Hope Township, purchasing a farm at Elizabethville. In 1976, Donald and Shirley moved to Port Hope.
